Blake "The Keeper" Lieberman is the kind of kid that would play sports 24 hours a day 365 days a year, if it were not for school or X-Box. He’s a natural at just about everything athletic; playing football and basketball, but the sport that is most deeply imbedded in his heart is SOCCER.
Blake is the goalkeeper for his U-11 West Houston Nationals team. When he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in February of this year Blake’s friends and teammates rallied to his side. His friends all shaved their heads so Blake would not feel alone when the chemo caused his hair to fall out. And to really give him encouragement they all wear HOT PINK Team Blake shirts. His teammates were even able to have the shirts numbered and printed with their team logos, making it the new team jersey for the remainder of the season!
On the soccer field Blake relishes the chance to organize his defense and record a shutout. In this battle all of TEAM BLAKE is working together to shut out cancer.
Although he cheers on the local Dynamo’s, Blake’s favorite international soccer team is Manchester United and his favorite player is Edwin van der Saarr.
