Soccer Friends Supporting

The Fight Against Leukemia

Saturday, June 14th, 2008 - Bear Creek Soccer Fields

Fellow soccer community members and friends, cancer has invaded our fraternity.  We have all been saddened by stories of cancer victims but now there is a face to this story.  A member of the Texas Premier Soccer Club, Nick Doize is 14 years old and has been stricken with a Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia that has relapsed into his Central Nervous System.  He has been bravely fighting this vicious disease for well over a year now.  Nick has battled through multiple chemotherapy treatments, and due to a recent relapse, will undergo a Bone Marrow Transplant.  Nick is a wonderful kid and seeing him toil with this disease has personalized what cancer does to people, especially our young ones.  It has made many of ask ourselves “what can we do?”  Well, there is something that we can ALL do.

As a way to contribute to an important cause and put a lot of feelings into action, we are proud and thrilled to be organizing the 6 v 6 Nick Doize Invitational Soccer Tournament.  This tournament is being organized with two goals in mind.  To join together and have fun on the soccer fields, but more importantly to help raise funds for Nick (and the thousands of other children) in his (their) fight against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and other cancers being treated at the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center which is part of the Texas Children’s Hospital.

Some of the impressive qualities about the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center are:

They treat many types of childhood cancers from Leukemia, Lymphoma to solid tumors like Brain and Bone cancer.

They are one of the leading Cancer and Hematology Centers in the country.

They take hardship cases and never turn away a child who has a life threatening disease due to the inability to pay and thus require help and donations to continue giving the life saving treatments so many children desperately need.

Texas Children’s Hospital treats more pediatric cancer patients than any other hospital in the nation.
